oven door gap on a Diplomat Softline?

The lower oven of my diplomat softline. The front door has a big gap at the top were there is no seal and the heat comes out through the gap. Its new. Is this as it should be?

I have one too and it is the same on mine, but mine is making the buttons etc red hot ?????

I can only imagine it is. I have just moved into an apartment with an Diplomat Softline ADP0530 oven and noticed the massive heat loss pumping out of the top of the door- jumped on the net, I was so curious. It looks like something is missing, doesn't it?! At least it makes the glass easy to remove :)

My guess is that it has something to do with making air available for the gas flame? I'm used to electric ovens...

You don't know how to set the clock, do you?
