How can I fix my Panasonic DMR-ES30V DVD Recorder?

The VHS side works ok but the DVD Side will not function. The Open/Close is not operational and there is a fault number displayed which is either U99 or 099

Have a peek under dvd drive unit to see if a 680uf capacitor has leaked/burst...if so replace it.
