I cant get my key out of the lock in the open position?

I have a barrel type lock, same as a UPVC door. I can lock and unlock okay but I cannot remove the key when in the unlock position. Any ideas?

Replace the barrel of the lock.
There is a single screw on the edge of the door just below the latch. Remove, then turn the key slightly to disengage the barrel.
