wouldn't recommend it.
it's an expensive part and not the easiest to change. it looks easy enough to replace but very often the seals are stuck on pretty well, which can result in damaging other parts while removing it.
it will most likely be cheaper in the long run to have a qualified engineer replace the part.
also keep in mind that british gas can offer a one off fixed price repair, which may be cheaper due to the cost of the part, and the repair will be guaranteed.
