my hp pavilon ze4500 when turn on comes up with no operating system cannot access anything else apart from f2 f12 and esc buttons can any body help its for my kid for school............

As a novice , then it won`t be too easy as you will only be poking in the dark...especially if the hard drive is not the problem.

You will have to deal with this problem one step at a time.
but first you will have to gather information so that you understand what you are doing (there is no easy , short cut answer !)

Google search for setting up the BIOS boot sequence, booting from a CD , booting into SAFE mode and see what is suggested

The answers are out there but will be much too involved to try and explain here.
