Can my TV be fixed if it got wet?

My son poured a glass of water on the back of our Sony TV. He did it when it was off but I did not know until I had turned it on and it shorted out. We have removed the back dried it off and waited for months now and it still will not work? Should we try to get it repaired or just throw out a $1000 V and chalk it up for bad luck?
It is a Sony Trinitron XBR

Hi Tamara, if the chassis of your tv got wet and now is dried, you have to check the fuses.Cause the water as we know is a conductor and put the tv in short, maybe blew out the voltage regulator and the horizontal output. If you need more details contact me i'll be glad to help you my E mail is ferminmon@yahoo.com.mx

Hi Tamara,

I agree with Terry I'm afraid. Had the TV been allowed to dry out then it would have most probably been OK. Having turned it on whilst still wet has probably caused un-told damage. My suggestion? Put it down to experience.

It probably had it. Had you not switched it on it could have been dried out.
