hi, my b n decker firestorm 18v charger light stays on red and doesn't charge the battery. Anyone got any ideas, thanks

I had this problem with my firestorm 18v (HP188F2K).

I left it "charging" and after a while the charger started to make a burning electrics smell so I turned the lot off.

I replaced the charger and the new one did the same thing so I assume it was the battery. I'm on-line looking for a battery now.
