where from, if it's the passenger seat, it's the just the wife moaning at your driving :)
if from the back, it's the differential going i'm afraid, bloomin expensive to get a new crown wheel and pinnion put in (cost me £850 7 years ago) as they are such big items and dont go as often as say transit diffs, so not many are sold so prices kept high.
of course you could bodge it with some sawdust in the axle, it takes up the excess lash, but is just putting off the inevitable.
if the whining gets louder going round a corner one way, and almost goes the other, then it'll be a wheelbearing.
