ka stereo strange problem?

i got a stereo with code for my ford ka, when i fitted it, i typed the code in, then it goes to the radio screen, but i can't do anything after that. none of the buttons work?

once you put code in did you make sure you push number 5 OR 6 to store hold for about 10 seconds
