my sony dvd player will play half of a movie then stops,, ?

i think the lense gets stuck half way on its little carrage to play the outer part of the disc. how to mend it please???

I have a similar problem with my Memorex DVD player. On any disc it stops at around 3/4 through. After checking, mine doesn't appear to have any problem with getting to the end of the carriage. So, at this point I'm thinking it is another hardware error.
