what does this switch mean?

i have an iveco daily converted motorhome.a switch on
the dashboard has a rabbit/hare with its 2 front legs wide apart to look like its flying. if i put the switch on a
red light comes on,it also comes on before you turn the
engine over-then it goes out.its the top right warning
light.what is it for -the van could have been a special
minibus before.

usually the rabit and hare thing are fast and slow speeds.

any ideas what the van was before it was converted? something that used a pto, tho i guess you dont have a big hole in the roof from a cherry picker being removed, but if it was a utility van, the pto would have run the generator and air compressors,

where is the red light?? in the dash or added later? what does it light up? what i'm thinking is in the hare position it should hold the engines revs, have you tried reving it a little then pressing the switch to hare to see if it's a throttle hold??
