How do I repair my toliet?

How do I replace the flushing mechanism on a dual flush toliet?
Mr Davies, March 2010
as said if your sticking with the same type of flush valve then they seperate half way down by twisting the top part 1/4 of a turn.
if changing completye valve then the cistern will need removing.

these type of flush valves useally never need changing
only the seals at the bottom fail over time
and all are replaceable for a few quid.

shut off water supply to toilet cistern flush toilet if possible if not use small container to empty water . disconnect the water supply from cistern and look under cistern should be two nuts either normal or wing nuts undo those then gently lift cistern off , you may need to remove two screws from inside cistern attaching it to wall , empty the water from cistern and turn it over you will see a large nut undo this and the whole unit will come out, replacement is the reverse of removal . but before doing this try and look at flush unit in cistern right at bottom where it joins porcelain some of them you just push down and turn and they come away , could be one of those types. hope this helps
