Being a young couple in our first house. Every costs so much money so we brought a second hand washing machine.

The washing machine smells damp, if you do not remove the clothes straight away they end up smelling of damp. Does anyone know how to get rid of this.

Try a boil/white wash with no clothes in the machine, but do put soap in, then the soap will work on cleaning the machine, also check the install is corect, that is no back flow of water or smells, check mum/dads/friends washer instal guide. if you use descaler it could break down lots of lime scale and cause a blockage, as you should remove your clothes imediatly and put them to dry, there may not even be a problem with the washer.

Try some anti bacteria crystals in a boil wash before you put your washing in soap scale can cause a bad smell the crystals should remove the problem

Doing a boil wash in the machine will help keep the smells down but in fairness once the smell is in there there is always going to be a smell present
