Are my bathroom basin taps repairable?

The taps supplying my bathroom wash basin have always (since I moved in in 2008) had considerable play in them but the hot will now only produce a trickle of water (flow insufficient to cause the combi boiler to cut in!).

Neither tap drips; I know a dripping tap requires a new washer, but haven't come across this problem before.

They are Ideal Standard gold coloured taps which would date from 2000 when the house was built.

The cold tap still produces a good flow of water, it just has an inordinate amount of play.

need to take off tap head, wind the brass mechanism from the body and make sure that the worm inside which incorporates the tap washer is in the correct position (which it won't be) if not set mechanism as if tap open and wind worm back on fully. Re fit switch water on tap will then work as normal
