McCullock MT 270 dead spot on trigger/revs?

I've just got my MT270 running after a couple of years of cobweb collection in the shed.
Initialy it just wouldn't start.
Using newly acquired Lambretta theory:) I diagnosed NO SPARK!
Took it all apart, fiddled with the OFF switch connections (as a local suggested) then managed to get a spark. ?!?!?!
Hey presto she now starts again, but I've got a dead spot on the trigger in about mid-squeeze and power seems to be p. poor:]
Anybody got any ideas please?

Hi Robert
sorry for delay, I forgot where I posted this question:[
My mix is about 3% or 33 : 1 using SHELL optimax petrol and scooter grade semi synthetic oil
This has made a vast diference, just managed to do my brothers jungle with little beasty screaming
hope this helps
best of luck
