hoover washing machine flashing led lights?

i have a four year old hoover aquarius wf340 1400 spin washing machine and lately when i turn my machine on, the red led lights flash for a few seconds and then it is ready to use. may question is - is this normal? or is it a fault with my machine? please advise. thanx
