how do i get water to flow from jetwash?

i have a brand new rac jet wash for car valeting, the motor is working fine, i have a hose running from a 25litre water drum to the jet wash, when i turn the jet wash on and press the gun no water will come out, sometimes it does some times it doesnt and im not sure what im doing wrong ,

hi james my son got one of these for his motobike he got a little 12v waterpump about a tenner on ebay that he puts on the van battery and its sits in the tub to his washer. the tub of water is better if higher than the washer.
