How do I fix my Eumig 820 Sonomatic projector?

I have a Eumig 820 Sonomatic super 8 sound projector. It works perfectly, but recently the operating knob broke off. I tried to glue the plastic knob back together, but it still doesn't grab the spindle to turn the projector on and off. Now I can't even use the projector...what can I do?

i had the same problem here. it seems thats a classy occurence with the 8xx sonomat series :-(
i also used a 2 component araldite. the shaft of the operation knob was split in two so i first glued that together, using a clamp and let it harden over night. next day i removed the front panel (just the screw on the front and remove the knobs for volume, tone etc...) then you can remove the front cover easily.
i again used 2 component araldite, smeared the clue very generous around the center line and the shaft again, while i placed the front panel back onto its place the glue could dry a bit. that doesn't take more than a minute, which is perfect. then i "plugged" the operation knob back to the shaft and left it dry for another 24 hours. i never had any problems since. negative aspect is that this way you will not be able to remove the front panel again without force and damage the operation knob for sure. but i hope you will never be forced to remove the panel again. best luck

I had a focus knob on my RS3000 break off. The plastic post was hollow, and I was able to cut a length of a bamboo chopstick to put inside with a small amount of Gorilla glue, and it worked very well. If the post is solid plastic, you may be able to drill into both parts, and insert and glue a piece of dowel rod, or even a cut length of a long machine screw to secure the two halves together.

you need a 2-components heavy duty glue and harden it at 60°C for 45min.(remove all glue from first trial)
In addition a thin aluminium tube (manufactured on a lathe) pressed onto shaft of knob will make it very rigid and long lasting.
