how to change the alternator on a ford transit van?

i have a ford transit dura torq di 2.4 td van and i need to change the alternator i dont know how to release the tension belt
terry wilkinson, April 2010
It is a very long belt on a transit 2.4 incorporating 7 or 8 different pulleys,I usually draw a small diagram showing the route the belt takes,if I remember right the pulley that releases the tension on the belt is next to the p.a.s pump pulley on the left looking at the engine from the front,I usually use a 3/8 socket bar to ease the tension off the belt, look for a square recess near the pulley to fit the socket bar.
