Car CD not being read?

My wife has a 5 year old Clio with a single CD player. All of a sudden it now doesn't read her CDs. The CD ERR message is displayed and the CD is ejected. The radio plays normally.

try putting in a cd cleaner disc and play that.
it might just do the trick.
