The only problem I have is that when I record anything in the daytime I have no problem at all. But when recording something that goes after midnight I always miss the ending,

My Sagem freeview box records programmes but on playback, it constantly stops and goes back to the tv? When you watch a recording back, after about 3 minutes of viewing the programme freezes and stops; yet the whole programme has been recorded.

After retuning my Sagem freeview box it stopped recording or allowing me access. It is showing Er01 on the set box but will not respond to the remote control.

christine Barr, October 2009
had the same problem and resorted to buying the humax and never looked back.
all the messing about trying to get a response from retailer or manufacturer is not worth the man hours sagem have lost a customer i will never buy that brand again

The SAGEM ITD58G no longer will pick up any signal althouigh the signal supply is perfect. I have two wioth the same condition. Is there a form of reset/clear memory ??.

whilst this is an old thread, tommorrow i have to go out and buy a new freeveiw box because the same model as above has deceided to become possessed over the weekend and goes haywire whenever anyone presses a button, it flashes and flickers and if for example you press 1 for bbc1, it goes to 11, and you can see the number going and going and going and it wont let us access the menu to reinstall easily, and despite having managed it a few times, it makes no difference. sagem 8TG58G has had it, it appears.

charlotte, November 2008
yeah - go to the screen where it asks for the installation code, then press in this order menu-menu-red-menu i tried this for the Sagem ITD58 and it worked perfectly!!!

Additions to what I just read (I have the Sagem ITD58G).

Pressing and holding MENU down on the remote while powering on the box does nothing. There is no mention of doing this to reset this device in the manual - This is bad information provided above. Forget it.

My Freeview box just died on me, as it no-longer responds to the remote (although I do know the remote is working, as it works on a friends unit).

I'd like to perform a 'hard' reset on it, but there is no button or control to do this - I even opened mine up in case there was some sort of battery I could remove to reset it - Again nothing. Seems the box is U/S.

Best to avoid this badly designed device.

I have a Sagem ITD58G....is this the same model as yours? If so please read on......I feel a petition starting to get our money back so we can replace our boxes with real ones that don't crash at the point of an update!!!

Is this the update you are talking about that appears on the screen?:

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g195/redfox_01/Image052.jpg

If so, this is the message I received and, after leaving it for about an hour in fear of not turning it off as instructed, the led flashed but no picture.

I went to their website and I found that there is an expensive helpline number.....hence, I didn't ring it. I contacted the head office in the UK and they said that as it was out of warranty there was nothing they could do but I didn't stand for this as it was Sagem who prompted me to do it (although the awful spelling in the message should have made me more cautious!!) I found an email address on their site (somehow) and I managed to get them to arrange a collection of my original box in exchange for a new one. However, good old Sagem, this one didn't even turn on! I contacted them again and they exchanged another including remote and cables. Up until last Sunday this one was working fine then I pressed the red button for some interactive and then I got the same thing happen as in the other Sagem post, the box returned to channel 303 and when trying to change the channel, it just turned itself off! This was then corrected by pressing 001 for the channel and forcing it to BBC.

I have now had the same "FONCTINNALITIES" message appear......I pressed EX to exit instead of OK to run it, I was not taking a second chance! This was fine but then it appeared the next time I turned it on and when I pressed Ex it just turned itself off so I had to press Ok which means for the last week I have not had a FUNCTIONING freeview box. I have gone back direct to Sagem to see what they are prepared to do about this, there are some serious flaws with this particular product and I think they should be made to rectify their errors.. This is an issue which is only caused by the user following instructions from the manufacturers product therefore, they should take responsability. I will try the menu button trick though.....these boxes are tuning out to be like a computer game where you are trawling the internet to find the cheats!!
I wish you the best of luck with it........A Sagem owner only buys Sagem once in their lifetime!

B4 binning it U might try to press and hold the menu button and try to reset the box 2 factory settings. (clear channels)

My sagem box kept restarting 2day after a failed flex update process. (Who ever invents those things) untill I decided 2 reset the box 2 factory default. New channel search on restart e presto.

Forget what I said about the Humax box. Its a which best buy. Must have had the wrong head on this morning.

Terry, May 2006
Sagem are a large French electronics compnay but I have no idea of the quality of their STBs. I do have an idea about Humax PVRs but won't go into it here.

Your box shouldn't switch itself off - it's that simple. Unfortunately STBs are so cheap now that repair is often not an option.

However if the box is comparitively new, take it back to the RETAILER (NOT the manufacturer) and ask for your money back under the Sale of Goods Acts. If it is under 12 months old the retailer should refund your money. If under 6 months old it is up to the retailer to prove that it is not broken rather than you prove it is.

Terry, May 2006
Ack,..Sagem, I'd bin it and get yourself a Humax F2FOXT.
