Where do the footrest springs attach on a Berkline stratolounger recliner?

I have an older Berkline stratolounger glider recliner and both springs on the footrest have broken and fallen off. I have recently located some springs that will serve as replacements, but I'm not sure where the springs attach (there are a lot of holes under there that they could fit in). Anyone have an idea?

I have a berkline braden recliner and the operating the recliner action is too hard for my wife, she is 82 yrs. I thinl the spring is too tight which makes it hard for her to get in and out , she has a bad arm which makes it hard to operate the handle due to the tight spring tension.
