Chain oiler?

I have a craftsman 16" 36cc chainsaw that doesnt get oil to the chain. I have drained the oil and checked inside for dirt and it was clean. I also took the chain and chainbar apart and found it to be clean.
Does it have an oil pump? and is there a way to check it?

It will have a pump driven by either the sprocket or the crank, either way there will be a driven gear on the crank and a gear runing at rigth angles to it in the pump, if it is not dirt then it will be a striped gear.
