My Ryobi gas trimmer won't start.... What is the problem?

After sitting in my garage over the winter, I pulled it out last weekend to do some grass trimming, but after SEVERAL attempts to start it, I gave up.
I checked the spark plug - has good spark.
I put fresh fuel in - No help.
When I checked the spark plug, it appeared to be dry - like no fuel was getting to it. I thought about trying to put a small amount of fuel in the cylindar before putting the spark plug back in, but thought I should check with an expert first, which is the reason I am on here....

If you want to prime it with fuel it is best done by removing the air filter and puttin a SMALL amount into the carb venturi, the engine will suck this in and if there is good crankcase compression it will fire, it is best to use a sqirty oil can with fuel oil in to do this.
