can a faulty on/off switch be repaired or replaced?

if i keep my finger on the on/off button it works! obviously I don't want to do that:)
This happened a few months ago and I removed the inside panel and got into the switch which looked very simple. I twiddled to see if anything was loose but not really. (I have NO IDEA about anything electrical but removing screws is pretty easy) However it worked when it was all put back together again even though I hadn't done anything.
I think it's running on borrowed time. What do you think?

What I meant was, I "fixed" it a few months ago but the same problem has resurfaced. It was a bit of a caffuffle (?)(never written the word before!) getting the panel off and getting to the switch and ... how do I properly 'fix' the switch?

The lady doth worry too much, methinks.

The switch failed to latch in the on position - you appear to have resolved the issue - rejoice.

It was a mechanical problem - be pleased with your excellent achievement.
