How can I fix my Toyota overlocker?

I have a Toyota Differential Overlocker; Model number 3400D. The upper loop thread keeps breaking. I have re threaded and checked that everything is how it should be. The thread runs through OK with no fabric in the machine, but as soon as I test it on the material, this thread breaks off. What am I doing wrong???

Toyota differential jammed cannot get the needles to raise up, have taken all threads out but by turning knob on side, it feels it goes tight then moves just a little. Then seems to lock/jam. Have tried a little machine oil on the 'loopers' but dies not seem to have released it. Now desperate

Hi, the upper looper is the part that gives least trouble on overlockers. 2 things to try, there is a lot of poor quality thread around at the moment, change the thread and also Toyota tension dials can't be trusted to be accurate! Turn the tensioner to a lower number so that there is only a small amount of tension when the thread is pulled through the tensioner. I've known some Toyotas tensioners to be on zero and still too tight! (they can be re set but you have to remove the front cover.

Hello Beverley,
For all overlocker problems you are best to take it to a repair shop.
