how to fix door switch hotpiont aquarius 900?

when the door is closed the power light only flicks on for a moment. the door needs to be shut repeatedly to get the machine to start.

No idea but mine had same problem. Removing the door latch plate revealed nothing and now I can't replace plate as screws go into thin air??
Should there be a fixing plate/switch inside?
