Hi , use a 3 sand to 1 cement mix and remember to use free flo in the mix.
To point the tiles use a 4-1 mix.

as above is spot on add a mortor plastersiser or a bit of washing up liquid and mix quite stuff add water a littl at a time as you can always add more water but can`t take it out

i would use 3 & 1, 3sand & 1 cement i have been roofing for 20 years
