I have replaced the heating element in my Tricity Bendix AW1400 W washing machine, but did not note which wire went to which spade connector (there are two). Maybe it doesn't matter but would like to be certain. The element would be standard across a range of machines.

On an element is does not matter which wire goes to the element spade terminal but you will have a 3rd wire which is green or green/yellow which will be an earth wire that must go on the earth tab and not on the heater tabs. The earth tab is usually in the centre and can be clearly seen to connect to the outer metal sheath of the element.
