in the french polishing trade this is what we call "mellowing".
the sun bleaches the timber and turns it lighter.
in an ideal world it needs stripping and re-polished but for a quick fix u could always buy some stain (without varnish in) the same colour as the un-bleached side and just over- stain it with a rag.
then once it has dried you can give it a light waxing using NATURAL COLOURED WAX.
