Toshiba L25 HDD not detected?

Hi, I purchased a toshiba l25 laptop about three months ago, I was using it last week when it gave a hd read error. I powered it off and back on and not it will not boot. When I go into setup there is no HD being displayed. I removed the HD and replaced it but it still will not see it. I have replaced the HD with a new one of the same model and brand but the laptop still will not pick up this hd either. Does anyone know what could cause this and if so how it can be fixed. Thanks.

Laptop computers power there HDD's via the IDE connector unlike standard hard drives. If you can try and locate the fuse for the HDD power (this mainly is located close to the connector itself) and check if it has gone open curcuit. If thats the case check the rating and buy a replacement, or get someone to replace it for you.
