Bernina 530 Record - Rewiring the motor?

I want to repair the motor on my Bernina. It's (maximum) sewing speed is like aah, driving a car in second gear! I've been told to get the motor re-wired. It is a knee-controlled Bernina 530 Record.

I have a friend (commercial electrician) who's happy to tackle the job. Can anyone share information on what we need to take into account with this exercise? Thanks heaps for any input!

Hi Drivewithken,

I will check with him before letting him work on the machine. He also said to keep a look out for a replacement motor. We're hoping to catch up this weekend so he can look at it & get the 'specs' (so I know what to look/ask for). I don't know how easy it will be to find replacement motor for a 1957 model but I suppose that's the challenge!
Thanks again.

If you have someone that knows how to rewire a motor and has the proper winding equipment all well and good but if he does not have the proper winding equipment leave it well alone and get a new motor, if he is an electrician he will know the equipment needed.
