changed battery recently and entered the wrong code in three times now just get error displayed. Have since found what I think is the could in my old note books should I disconnect the car battery and start again.

Please help, going on road trip and I will wig out if I have no radio.

NO dont do that.
you need to leave turned on untouched for as long as it takes to reset itself.
ps. if you touch any button the wait time starts from the start.
post the number that is stamped into the metal casing on the radio to see if i can help with the right code.
