My upvc window wont open,the top shoot bolt releases but the bottom bolt wont lift with the handle,I can repair the fault if I can get the window open,do I need to remove the glass?removing handle gets me nowhere,bottom bolt has screwed itself out of lock fitting I think?Any help much appreciated.It is Kenrick Excalibur mech I think.Rich.

When the mechanism snaps inside a closed window sash, the best way to open it would be to take the glass out! this way there is more play and flexibility in the upvc frame you should then be able to force the sash upwards enough to get the shootbolt passed its locator!!! try using a small crowbar from the out side underneath but be careful to place something like a cloth on the cill and the sash as not to scratch it! hope this helps! Once opened you chould be able to remove the mechanism to take to a window manufacturer for a matching mech!
