Smell from drum?

Hotpoint First Edition 1200 WM53. I am getting a terrible smell from the drum. I have taken the plumbing apart and cleaned all the pipes but the odour remains. Any idea the cause of this problem

Thank you for your reply. I bought a products called "Service IT" and it did the trick.

Hello, if you're sure it's not a burning or electrical smell but more a sort of bad drains one, then go buy some soda crystals from the chemist or hardware shop, (cheap:about £1) and do what's called a 'service wash'. Thats a boil wash with no clothes in, just using the soda crystals instead of powder. Not sure how much to use- maybe a mug full. Alternatively, I saw some stuff for sale in Morrisons the other day that did the same thing, cost about £3. Was in the section with the washing machine descaler. Also worth removing the soap dispenser tray and giving that a good clean as the old build-up of soap and conditioner tends to get a bit manky and smells too!
