How can I fix or replace my Nissan Primera 2006 in-car cd changer ?

My Nissan Primera 2006 CD changer has stopped working. CD's will not eject or play. LOcal garage wants to remove and send away to France or replace with new unit at cost of £700.00 plus fitting fees. Can anyone help out there?
