Acer desktop (running Vista) ?

Acer desktop (running Vista) does not read my Medion usb memory stick, it has read it previously. I have tried usb stick in another port, and another computer without success. I have other memory sticks which do not cause a problem.

it might need formatting?

right click my computer (will be called just 'computer' in vista) click manage then click on diskmanagement on the left.

if you see a drive with a black block right click and create a partition

Then from what you say the diagnosis is absolutely conclusive - the Memory Stick is defective.
