The drum in my Whirlpool vibrated so much on start up of the spin cycle that it used to make loud banging noises that made me jump! This resulted in the screws that hold the door on coming out and door coming open whilst it was spinning, i had to hold it closed until the cycle finished as the door wouldn't lock in place again. I had already had an Engineer out to check the problem but, on doing a test load, he couldn't see anything wrong as it didn't vibrate whilst he was there. After the door flying open episode I called again and the Engineer said the shock absorbers were too soft. So, hopefully today, as I write, the Engineer is at mine fitting harder shock absorbers and a new door. Thankfully I had taken out an extended warranty - I have only had the machine just over a year. Let's hope it's the end of the problem.

Make sure its empty Switch it off and unplug it. Leave it for a few miinutes and then remove the top (usually a couple of screws at the rear, then slide off ). Check to see if one of the shock absorbers,or drum holding mounts or the concrete block has broken/become loose . It could be something a simple as the floor adjusters not being level .check those as well
