Is there a way to select RGB on my Goodmans VN9500S VHS recorder?

Is there a way to select RGB on my Goodmans VN9500S VHS recorder? I have just bought a dvd recorder so I no longer need the vhs to record but would like it to still play tapes. I have bought scart splitter and since putting it together the play back on the vhs is awful, but the cable box, tv and dvd are fine. The main reason for buying the dvd recorder was to transfer my children's vhs baby tapes onto dvd for safe keeping. I contacted the supplier of the scart splitter and they told me to select the RGB on my vhs machine, but I don't know how to and I can't find the manual.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Many thanks

no. rgb will not work on your vhs machine as it is a digital signal, therefore only works with dvd, cable, skydigital etc. to record your vhs tapes, run a scartlead from the back of the vhs machine into the back of your dvd recorder
