My feather lite fl 20 was having problems starting and then it would never idle once started. I read the solutions given here and took the carb off which is super simple(take out the 2 screws that hold the plastic air filter housing off and it falls off) I then took an angle grinder and ground down the surrounding areas of the 2 carb adjustment knobs until the tops were even with the metal surrounding them. At this point I took some very small needle nose pliers and gave both knobs a quarter turn counter clockwise. ( I believe cutting slots in them with the Dremel, so you could use a screwdriver, would be the best idea but I did not have one.) Anyway, put it all back together and it solved all the problems. One other thing I have noted is that all these small engines do not seem to like the gasoline w/ ethanol we have now. I have been using ethanol shield and this seems to help with all of them. Just want to say thanks for the advice offered and this is one of the best fix it yourself websites I have encountered.

its not tuned right. the adjustment knob screw things are on the side of the carb but u cant reach them without a special tool or modifying them

The tube that sucks gas out of the tank has come off the filter that sits in the gas tank. you need to reconnect the tube to the filter.

The propblem with this model I have found out just now, is its out of adjustment. The black screws to adjust it, or preset and can't be touched unless modified he is what needs to be done, take a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel and cut slots in the middle of each adjustment screw so you can use a flat head screwdriver. Once thats done if it a quarter turn counterclock wise, this richens or adds more fuel and it will then run. The screw with a H next to it will need the adjustment thats highside or full throttle adjustment.

I have a FL20 and short of sprinkling it with holy water nothing has worked. It will start and run as long as you keep working the throttle and keep it choked. It acts like it's out of gas. The solution for me was to adjust the carb. Look for two black adjustment screws on the carb, the won't look like screws but rather like two small black knobs you can't reach. I adjusted both of them (high speed and low speed) 1 turn counter-clockwise. It's ran like a top ever since.

Have you cleaned the filter?
NO-It's beneath the plastic cover on the choke lever. Remove two screws(on mine)and pull cover off. It's a square sponge and is probably black from dirt/oil. Wash it in soap and water and let dry. While it's off squirt carb cleaner directly into and around choke.

YES- Carb cleaner in choke(as above).
Remove spark plug and spray carb cleaner in plug hole.
Turn upside down to drain what you just sprayed in.
Repeat until no gunk comes out.
