Singer Confidence 7463?

Bobbin rotates counter clockwise and I pull thread through slot A. When pulled to the left and finger on top of bobbin thread does not stop in slot B? It continues to pull indefinitely so I cannot pull along groove on needle plate.

new singer confidence 7463 machine used today for about 5h. will not sew. is jammed in the up position. manual wheel will not move either.
help!

Thread should go through the first slot and over to the left and then lay the thread over to the right and then pick up the thread when you sew.
