Kettle Filters?

Having owned several impractical jug kettles I finally hit on a user friendly Cookworks model (lower medium price) My hand strength is limited and this one is perfect & user friendly. Had it for a relatively short time -just over a year. Unfortunately the filter's gone. No replacements available. I feel it hasn't lasted long enough -about a year (An angry complainer wrote in asking how to repair his own after 5 years!)
Any ideas on how to make your own filter and if so how to attach it: safe glue etc?
Thanks!
