I recently transferred a file full of pictures to a usb drive to back them up but i cut and pasted by mistake instead of copy and paste, the file got damaged during the transfer and now both on the usb drive and my laptop i have lost around 1200 pictures of my newborn daughter. does anyone know what i can do to get these pictures back? please can anybody help???

First - STOP USING THE PC RIGHT NOW! Any further use will make things worse.

Data recovery is a skilled job requiring specialist tools and so you should take the PC and the USB stick to a local computer shop. It will not be cheap but they often do a 'No fix - No Fee# deal.
