mY SINGER MACHINE IS AN OLD MODEL AND I CANT FIGURE HOW TO PLACE THE BOBBIN?

i AM YOUNG AND HAVENT USED A SEWING MACHINE BEFORE I was given an old singer machine and cannot figure iut how 2 position,(NOT wind), the bobbin and wher i put the tip of the thread. there is a snug holder your drop it into on front end near the needle u can push a lever and the bobbin pops up, where do i position the thread to begin sewing? help would be so greatly appreciated

It sounds like a model 66k 99k or 185k if the bobbin drops flat on the top.
Take the bobbin in your left hand, the thread should be on the top of the bobbin, place the bobbin in the machine, put the thread through the slot and pull it over the top of the bobbin and lay it towards you.

If you mean getting the thread from the bobbin part under the needle, this is how I do it (I have a Singer Stylist 367 machine, kind of oldish):

Make sure that the needle is threaded before you start...
There are 2 small narrow slots on the left of the bobbin holder - I put the thread out of the lower slot and back in through the upper slot. Then I pull the thread up near the needle foot, so it is coming out of the bobbin holder section. Next gently turn the wheel to lower the needle and to raise it it back up, when the needle comes back up it should have roped the thread from the bobbin and you should be able to pull it through from there.
