Try carrying out a forced reset, this will re-format the hard-drive, you will end up loosing favourites/recordings/future pre-programmed recordings/etc, however it may work. To do this carry out the following:
1. Ensure power is switched-off at plug
2. press & hold the left and right arrow buttons on the unit (not on the remote)
3. Whilst still pressing and holding the above mentioned buttons, switch-on the power at the plug, wait for approx 30 seconds, hopefully the blue recording LED on the front of the unit will start to circle round (Just like it does when you set it to record).
4. If the blue recording LED comes on, then release the left/right arrow buttons, and press the centre select button, this will then re-format the HDD, this is a common fix, as over time, the HDD gets fragmented, and struggles to work at power-up. After a forced reset, the unit will go into standby, just leave it for a few minutes like you would normally, then press the power-button to bring it out of standby. NB:- if you have to keep doing this, then obviously the HDD will eventually need replacing..
Can you reply to this thread if this works (Ex Set Top Box repair engineer)……Simon_01
