potterton EP3000 programmer?

Just bought new home I need to know how to programme just the hot water to heat up without having central heating come on, have tried switching just hot water switch but radiators still get hot, there are 2 valves in cupboard with emersion heater 1 for heating & 1 for hot water do I need to do anything with these, can anyone help ?

You sound to have an 'S' plan system (two zone valves rather than a diverter valve)
You could check that the heating zone valve is in the auto rather than manual position, otherwise it sounds like the heating zone valve is passing.

It's possibly a wiring fault, but unlikely.

Consider converting to a 'Y' plan, (diveter rather than zones, less components, less to go wrong.
