all rechargeable batteries have a limited life, the more you charge them, the worse they get.the older ones have a built in memory, that is to say if you run the drill till the batterys half flat, then recharge it,the battery will run your drill till it reaches the point that you recharged it,then it will die.it is always best to fully discharge the battery before you recharge it.
