I have a painted Hutch in my dinningroom, and I would like to have it stained a rich color. I have started to remove the paint, but the job is much to big. The only other thought was to paint it a darker color and see if I can add stain to that. Please help! I am at my wits end and would like to have a completed project. Thank you.

You will need to remove all the paint in order to stain the wood.
Best way is to use a paint stripper go to your local DIY and they should offer advice.
Once back to bare wood you can stain or use a finishing oil
