No! Do you mean the fridge motor keeps stopping and starting quickly? Too much ice in the freezer means it is time to defrost the compartment. Empty it out and switch off the freezer overnight,do not use knives etc to get rid of the ice, if the freezer is an upright one watch out for the water on the floor that has come from the ice melting. Then switch back on in the morning and you should be ok.
