How can I fix my Samsung DVDVR330 Recorder/Player?

I cannot play DVD's, MP3's. Everything I try brings up the message "Unable to play disc" "Please check disc", or if I try a new blank DVD+/- RW I get a message " Unable to format disc due to error"
